Marauders Come Up Short at Brooklyn
|
The Brooklyn Black Knights had to overcome a big game from Maple designated hitter Kojuro Ine to leave Blue Ivy Stadium with a 7-6 victory. Ine went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times. Tomás Bravo got the win, improving to 4-4. He worked 5 innings, giving up 4 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. Ti-an Dan picked up the save for Brooklyn, his 14th of the year.
The Black Knights beat the Marauders in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out home run Sean Mizuno produced in the bottom of the fourth. Batting against Maple pitcher Umarah Abdul-Quddus, Mizuno gave his team a 5-1 lead when he hit a grand slam.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Mizuno said.
With the win, Brooklyn has a record of 29-22. Maple falls to 31-18.
