The Kingwood Knights and Coney Island Cyclones brought some excitement to Coney Island Coliseum.

The Coney Island Cyclones powered past the Kingwood Knights, 8-4, at Coney Island Coliseum. Bill Mendoza was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3, to lead the charge. Julio Ochoa was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts.

In the bottom of the 4th, Coney Island took the lead on a bases-clearing double by Steve Woods. At the time, the Cyclones were trailing 2-1, but Woods's hit with two outs against Kingwood pitcher Ruben Luna put them in front, 4-2.

"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Mendoza.

Coney Island, now 5-2, has gotten their season off to a good start.
