Behind a solid performance from center fielder Rafael Cruz, the St. Paul Saints defeated the Chippewa River Chiefs, 5-2. Cruz went 1 for 1 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Saints. Craig Wyman got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1 innings. St. Paul has a mark of 3-3 after the win.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With no one out, Cruz hit a fastball from Juan Lara for a 3-run home run. The Saints, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"I felt we were ready to go," said St. Paul manager Ismael Rodríguez. "Our pregame was pretty good."
