Extra-Inning Win by Warriors over Bloodhounds
|
The Winfield Warriors stymied the Boise Bloodhounds, 7-2, at Grand Canyon Valley Park. Cliff Schwartz, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs for Winfield. Winfield reliever Juan Montés picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Pete Tupper was saddled with the loss. The Warriors raised their record to 3-2.
Both teams had trouble manufacturing runs. So, Lorenzo Muńóz's at-bat in the top of the tenth was critical. With no one out, the Winfield right fielder hit a run-scoring single, to give his team a 3-2 lead.
"Tough ballgame, tough loss," said Boise manager Nick Brown.
