Oklahoma City got an elite performance from starting pitcher Lewis Portsmouth in taking a 4-1 decision over the Portland Beavers. Oklahoma City reliever Manny Calderón picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Pedro Medina took the loss. Manuel Guerrero earned the save, his 7th.
In the top of the 7th, second baseman Eric Clements gave Oklahoma City the lead when he hit a 2-run home run. The Prowlers had been trailing 1-0, but the two-out home run off Portland pitcher Pedro Medina changed that -- and Oklahoma City went on to win.
"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Portsmouth. "Successful pitchers do it."
The Beavers, now 21-30, have lost 4 straight.
