Saints Fall Short, 3-2, at Coney Island
|
The Coney Island Cyclones got their 2032 season off and running with a win over the St. Paul Saints at Coney Island Coliseum. The final score was 3-2. Coney Island pitcher Neil Coffin was named player of the game. Coney Island reliever Mike Tyson got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Cheng-ji Guan was tagged with the loss. The save was credited to Jamie Morgan, his 1st.
Sean Hayward drew 1 walk for Coney Island. The 20-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off Cheng-ji Guan. It was his 1st walk of the season.
Afterward, Cyclones manager Gerald Pugh was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
