Renouf Lifts Mustangs to 12-4 Win
|
The San Angelo Mustangs put the giddy home crowd in an even more jubilant mood after beating the Boise Bloodhounds in the season opener at Heartland Kettlecorn Stadium. Center Fielder Lane Renouf won player of the game plaudits for San Angelo. He went 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 6. Charlie Haydon picked up the win with 6.1 innings of work. He allowed 1 earned run on 4 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 2. On the season, he is now 1-0.
Jim Bailey had a chance to do some damage in the top of the ninth. With Boise trailing 12-2, Boise had the bases loaded. Bailey grounded out, driving in 1 run. But it was not enough. Boise would not finish the comeback.
