Wolverines Pull Even With 10-1 Victory
|
The Wichita Wolverines racked up a win at The Field at Richmond, bumping off the Topeka Predators, 10-1. Robinson Merrado, who started for Wichita, pitched effectively for his team. Merrado, now 10-6, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 12, walking 3, and allowing no earned runs. Carlos Muñóz closed it out for his 4th save.
The Wolverines grabbed the lead in the top of the sixth. With one out, Lane Renouf hit a 2-run home run off Tomas Fuentes, putting Wichita in front, 4-0. For Renouf, it was his 9th home run of the season.
"It was full throttle on our side," said Renouf.
The Wolverines raised their record to 81-81.
