Cornhuskers Turn Back Spokane, 3-1
|
The DeKalb Cornhuskers got a strong performance from pitcher Jim Leclair, who stymied the Spokane offense en route to a 3-1 win at The Corn Crib. Leclair, the winner, moves to 7-2. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 1 walk. DeKalb currently is in second place in the Bob Moose League Bruce Bochy Division at 92-68.
Noriaki Kobayashi had a big run-scoring single for the Cornhuskers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With DeKalb leading 1-0 and a runner on 3rd, he got a fastball from António Días and stroked the single to left. It was his 68th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cornhuskers ahead, 2-0.
"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Leclair. "Just do my job."
