The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Buzzard's Bay fans at Bloomfield Road.

In a high-scoring game between Buzzard's Bay and Newark, right fielder Jorge Silva was a difference-maker. The 23-year-old earned player of the game honors in the 13-8 Buzzard's Bay win. He was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 4 times. Buzzard's Bay reliever Jesús Tobías picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Takeo Tsuchiya absorbed the loss.

Jesus Escamilla had a big hit for Buzzard's Bay in the bottom of the second inning. With Buzzard's Bay leading 2-1, Escamilla hit a bases-clearing triple. It was his 3rd triple of the season and put the Beetlecats up, 5-1.

"Been a rough stretch for us," said Newark manager Johan Gillberry.

The 4th-place Jail Birds have dropped 5 straight games.
