Streaking Tune-Ups Win Another One
|
The Youngstown Tune-Ups defeated the Riverside Red Bulls, 9-2, at Joey Naples Memorial Colloseum today. Leading the charge for Youngstown was right fielder William Banks. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Dominic Smith, the winner, improved to 16-4. He held Riverside to 2 earned runs on 4 hits over 6 innings, while racking up 11 strikeouts. Greg O'Dell earned the save, his 1st, for the Tune-Ups.
San Miguelito, Panama-born Mario Cruz came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded and the Tune-Ups trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run double to left-center to put Youngstown on top.
"We're obviously playing with a lot of confidence," said Youngstown manager Jacob Gaines.
Riverside has now lost 4 straight.
