Storm Troopers Nip Mustang, 5-4
|
Carson City second baseman Héctor Martínez had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Martínez was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2, even as San Antonio beat the Mustang, 5-4. Martínez was named the player of the game despite the loss. The win was Hirotami Asada's in relief. His record improves to 8-8. Mike Steveson took the loss for Carson City. San Antonio is now 69-83, Carson City 95-58.
Santiago López's at-bat in the top of the seventh was significant for the Storm Troopers. Coming to the plate with runners on 1st and 3rd and San Antonio leading 4-3, the catcher hit a run-scoring single.
"I'm trying to keep it simple," said López. "Just do my job."
