Wolverines Go Down to Defeat, 9-6
|
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Ken Cashmann, the Long Island Ducks defeated the Wichita Wolverines, 9-6. Cashmann went 2 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Ducks. Stuart Organ got the win, improving to 11-8. He held the Wolverines to 2 earned runs on 4 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Earning his 4th save of the year was Yasukazu Kouda.
Shoya Wada contributed a productive at-bat in the bottom of the third. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he drew a walk. It was one at-bat that helped Long Island get the win.
"If the personal accolades come, so be it," said Cashmann. "I just want to win ballgames."
Long Island, now 64-83, holds last place in the Bob Moose League Bruce Bochy Division.
