Red Bulls Edge Shamrocks, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Riverside Red Bulls and the Pacifica Shamrocks, pitcher Kenko Hori was the difference between victory and defeat. The Riverside right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-2 Red Bulls win. Daryl Walder, the winner, improved to 10-6. He held the Shamrocks to 2 earned runs on 5 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 2 and walking 1. The win puts the Red Bulls at 86-60, while the Shamrocks drop to 86-58.
A crucial at-bat came with the bases loaded and one out in the top of the seventh inning. That's when center fielder Héctor Lara, who is rated as the 3rd best prospect by BNN, hit a sacrifice fly. The Red Bulls went on to win.
"First place," said Red Bulls manager Tim Duncan. "This is right where we want to be."
