Hellcats Suffer 5-4 Loss to Wolverines
|
The Wichita Wolverines turned back the Jacksonville Hellcats, 5-4, at Hellcats Park. Alan Lehman was named player of the game for his fine performance. He was 2-2 with 2 doubles and 2 walks. Moises Ramirez, credited with the win, is now 3-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. The save was credited to Pedro Galló, his 37th.
Willis Pierce contributed to the Wichita win. The 24-year old first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the fifth. For the game, Pierce was 2-4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Jacksonville manager Pete Dellow.
The Wolverines saw their win-loss record go to 72-73. At the same time, the Hellcats fell to 62-82.
