Walk-Off Seals 76th Victory for Hawks
|
Long Island wasted a solid 7-inning effort from starting pitcher Braden Halladay, losing to Boise, 2-1, at Basque Block Field. Boise reliever James Woodard picked up the win, upping his record to 5-8. Bartolo Alicpa took the loss. Boise has 3 straight wins, Long Island 3 straight losses.
With runs few and far between, the Hawks had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Boise came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when right fielder Pete Freeman delivered a run-scoring double. The double was hit off Bartolo Alicpa and made the score 2-1, Hawks. Freeman went 2 for 5 with a double.
"Great to get the crowd on its feet," Freeman said.
