Tune-Ups Get One-Run Win at Cincinnati
|
Youngstown and Cincinnati played a hard-fought contest at The Studio.
In a low-scoring clash between Youngstown and Cincinnati, pitcher Dominic Smith was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned player of the game honors for Youngstown in the 3-2 win. Koshiro Ohayashi picked up the save for Youngstown, his 44th of the year.
Contributing to the Youngstown win was Nick Wedemeyer. In the top of the fourth, the 24-year old shortstop had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. That made the score 2-0, the Tune-Ups in front.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Youngstown manager Jacob Gaines said.
The second-place Tune-Ups raised their record to 80-61.
