Lights Subdue New York, 6-5
|
The New York Ninjas got a superb performance from center fielder Yoshiro Allen, but the Phoenix Lights still won the game, 6-5. Allen was named the player of the game despite the loss. He was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs. José Castro picked up the win, improving his season record to 8-9. He struck out 6 in 6 innings. Paul Murat earned the save for Phoenix, his 11th.
Topan Alisjahbana had a productive at-bat for the Lights with one out in the top of the fourth. With the bases loaded, the right fielder grounded out, driving in 1 run. The at-bat was important in the Phoenix win.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Phoenix manager Michael Barnett.
With the win over New York, the Lights improved to 78-65.
