Hellcats Come Back Late to Clip Mustang
|
The Jacksonville Hellcats beat the Carson City Mustang, 8-6, at Cowboys Stadium. Jacksonville catcher Devin Davis earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Reliever Ed Benner picked up the win. His record improves to 5-9. Yoshimochi Chikuda took the loss. The Hellcats are now 59-81, while the Mustang fall to 89-51.
With one out in the top of the eighth, Bill Petipas stroked a go-ahead run-scoring single. It was his 100th hit of the season and put Jacksonville in front, 7-6.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Jacksonville skipper Pete Dellow.
