Spokane first baseman Itsuka Arakaki had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Arakaki was 3 for 5 with 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once, even as Carson City beat the Bulldogs, 7-5. Arakaki was named the player of the game despite the loss. The third-place Bulldogs have lost 4 straight games.

Phil Parker had a nice at-bat for the Mustang with two out in the bottom of the first. With the bases loaded, the catcher drew a walk, driving in 1 run, which would prove important in the Carson City win.

"I believe in our guys," said Carson City skipper Nobuharu Chikafuji. "I like the energy they're playing with."
