Rubber City starter Vincent Vickers pitched effectively against the Oklahoma City Prowlers at Memorial Circle Park. The right-hander led his team to a 5-4 win. Vickers got the win, improving to 4-2. He allowed 10 hits and walked 0 over 8 innings. Vickers allowed no earned runs. Shinzo Sasaki sewed up the save, his 10th.
This game was not decided until late. With one out in the top of the ninth, Billy Joel hit a sacrifice fly. The Rhinos took the lead, 5-4.
"Everyone's kind of edgy right now," said losing manager Jorge Valdéz, "but nothing a couple of wins wouldn't cure."
The slumping Prowlers have lost 7 straight.
