Atlantic City got a terrific game from catcher Mitsuo Sasaki. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Long Island, 8-4. Sasaki was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Yasukazu Kouda picked up the win, improving his season record to 2-4. He struck out 3 in 6.1 innings. The last-place Ducks now have a win-loss record of 58-75.

Yoshitoki Kitamura's at-bat in the top of the sixth was significant for the Ducks. Coming to the plate with the bases loaded and Long Island leading 3-2, the designated hitter drew a walk, driving in 1 run.

"Winning never gets old," said Kitamura.
