Mata Brings A-Game, Wolverines Beat Jail Birds
Newark had no answer for Wichita Wolverines starter Oscar Mata, who flummoxed Jail Birds hitters as the Wolverines cruised to a 8-0 victory. The Wolverines go to 67-64, putting them second in the Bob Moose League Jim Leyland Division.

The Wolverines liked what they saw from Mata. The 20-year old pitcher had a commanding presence on the mound, limiting the Jail Birds to no earned runs on 2 hits over 6.2 innings, and striking out 7.

"I guess we'll all be a happy family for at least one day," said Mata.
