Sandy Springs right fielder Tomohiro Harada had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Harada went 2-3 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs and scored once, even as Pacifica beat the Spartans, 5-4. Harada was named the player of the game despite the loss. Danny Posada got credit for the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. Jamie Newitt got the save, the 14th for him this season.
Ernie Horswill had the most critical at-bat for Pacifica. With two in the top of the ninth inning, Horswill hit a 1-1 fastball from Tom Polk for a run-scoring single. It put Pacifica in front, 5-4.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Sandy Springs manager António Chávez said following the tough loss.
The first-place Shamrocks, at 78-49, now lead their division by 6½ games.
