Hawks Come Back Late to Top Tune-Ups

Boise got a first-rate effort from pitcher Cai-fei Men, who frustrated Youngstown hitters en route to a 3-1 Hawks triumph at Joey Naples Memorial Colloseum. Men picked up the win for Boise, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 5-0. The Hawks bumped their record to 63-62 with this latest triumph.
Runs were few and far between in this one. So, Pete Freeman's at-bat with two out in the top of the eighth was crucial. The Boise center fielder hit a 2-run double, to give his team a 3-1 lead.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Boise manager Arinori Nakamura said.
