Earthquakes Lose to Blazers, 4-1
|
Bloomington starter Gabriel Núñez put a stranglehold on the San Francisco offense. The left-hander had complete command of his curveball in leading the Blazers to a 4-1 win. Núñez got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 7 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. Núñez allowed 1 earned run. The save was credited to Toyotomi Nakano, his 1st.
Sean Clark brought the hometown crowd to its feet with one out in the bottom of the first. That's when the former first round draft pick belted a 2-run home run. With the round-tripper, the Blazers took the lead, 2-0.
"Gabriel's tempo and rhythm were good," said Blazers manager Javier Ramírez. "He was the key to us winning."
Losses have been rare for the Earthquakes, who are now 4-1.
