Hawks Fall Short at Youngstown
|
In a low-scoring game between the Youngstown Tune-Ups and the Boise Hawks, pitcher Luis Vásquez was masterful on the mound. The Youngstown left-hander was named the player of the game in Youngstown's 2-1 win. The win puts the Tune-Ups at 67-57, while the Hawks drop to 61-62.
One significant plate appearance for Youngstown came with two out in the bottom of the ninth inning. Tune-Ups shortstop Nick Wedemeyer reached on an error by the second baseman, which helped Youngstown go on to win.
"We scored one run," said Boise manager Arinori Nakamura. "You're not gonna get a lot of Ws scoring just one run."
