Monarchs Lose to Lights in Walk Off
|
Despite a great performance by Marysville first baseman Orlando Morales, the Phoenix Lights defeated the Monarchs by the score of 9-8 at UFO Field. Morales was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The win was credited to Jian-cheng Wang in relief. His record improves to 5-1. Joel Scoley took the loss. Phoenix has run its win streak to 4 in a row.
In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 8-8, first baseman Qu-bing Ci won it for Phoenix. With the bases loaded, Ci hit a 1-0 cutter from Eduardo Alaniz for a run-scoring single, giving his team a 9-8 win.
"This place was electric at the end," Ci said.
