The DeKalb Cornhuskers racked up a win at The Corn Crib, bumping off the Rock River Rats, 5-3. Morihiro Hashimoto, who started for DeKalb, pitched effectively for his team. Hashimoto, now 6-5, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run. Hideyori Ohayashi picked up the save for DeKalb, his 3rd of the year.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, third baseman Noriaki Kobayashi came through big-time for the Cornhuskers. With DeKalb leading 2-1, he belted a 3-run home run.
"This was a good win," said Kobayashi.
The Cornhuskers now have a mark of 66-55.
