Behind a solid performance from catcher Juan Cruz, the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats defeated the Atlantic City Enforcers, 8-7. Cruz went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Beetlecats. Mike Phelan, the winner, improved to 3-0. He held the Enforcers to 1 earned run on 2 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 1. The Beetlecats saw their record improve to 51-63.
The Beetlecats grabbed the lead in the top of the eighth. With one out, Luis González hit a solo home run off Jim Fisher, putting Buzzard's Bay in front, 8-4. For González, it was his 1st home run of the season.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," González said.
