The Marysville Monarchs defeated the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats, 9-6, at Bloomfield Road today. Leading the charge for Marysville was designated hitter Frank Nicholson. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs. Joel Scoley earned his 12th save in 14 chances. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Marysville.
António Ayala had a big 2-run single for the Monarchs in the top of the second inning. With Marysville leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Vincent Bethea and stroked the single to center. It was his 80th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Monarchs ahead, 3-0.
"Good win for us," said Nicholson. "Now we'll focus on the next one."
