The umbrellas came out during the Long Island-DeKalb contest at The Corn Crib.

The Long Island Ducks beat the DeKalb Cornhuskers, 7-4, at The Corn Crib. The win was largely due to the efforts of left fielder Fernando Gutiérrez, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Kunimichi Suzuki picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-5. Manny López was tagged with the loss. Miguel Hernández got credit for the save for Long Island. It was his 17th of the year.

Curtis Downing had a go-ahead double for Long Island in the top of the seventh inning. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, the 24-year old center fielder hit a run-scoring double off Hideyori Ohayashi. His 9th double of the season made the score 5-4.

"It feels good to get this one," Gutiérrez told the Long Island Times.

With the win, the Ducks improved to 52-65.
