The New York Ninjas got a magnificent performance from pitcher Masaharu Aoki, who stifled the Long Island offense en route to a 3-1 Ninjas win at Confucius Field. Dae-je Kwak got the save, the 21st for him this season. The Ninjas' win now puts them at 55-55.

Doing his part for New York was designated hitter Ron Marshall, who stroked a run-scoring single in the bottom of the second. For the game, Marshall was 1-3 with a walk.

"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Aoki said.
