Beetlecats Edge Phoenix in Pitching Duel

Buzzard's Bay overcame a superlative game from Mauro Rodríguez to beat Phoenix, 1-0. The Phoenix pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball. Buzzard's Bay reliever Dimitri Jourdan picked up the win, upping his record to 8-2. Mauro Rodríguez took the loss. Takashi Toru was called on to finish, recording his 9th save.
Fomio Onishi delivered for Buzzard's Bay in the bottom of the second. His solo home run off Phoenix pitcher Mauro Rodríguez put Buzzard's Bay in front, 1-0.
"If I do my job, we've usually got a good chance to win the game," said Onishi.
The last-place Beetlecats improved to 49-60.
