Cornhuskers Pin 8-5 Loss on Predators
|
The Topeka Predators and DeKalb Cornhuskers were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd at The Field at Richmond.
The DeKalb Cornhuskers defeated the Topeka Predators, 8-5, at The Field at Richmond. DeKalb pinch hitter Masao Sakamoto was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 1 for 1 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win was Julián Diéguez's in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Brian Siegfried took the loss for Topeka.
The outcome might have been different had it not been for Sakamoto. In the top of the seventh inning, when the Cornhuskers were trailing 5-4, Sakamoto delivered a two-out 2-run home run for DeKalb, giving his team the lead.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Eduardo Varerla said.
DeKalb is now 59-52.
