The Wichita Wolverines defeated the Sandy Springs Spartans, 7-5. Earning player of the game honors was first baseman Willis Pierce, who went 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Wichita reliever Valentim Carrapa picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. Randy McKinney absorbed the loss. Pedro Galló closed the game out for Wichita, earning his 29th save.

The Wichita win was a team effort. It included major contributions from, among others, Manny Gonzáles. In the bottom of the seventh, the Wichita shortstop came to bat and hit a 2-run single. It staked his team to a 6-4 lead.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Gonzáles told the Wichita Times.
