Dedicated fans at Cobras Ballpark weathered the storm to watch their beloved Jail Birds beat the Storm Troopers.
The Newark Jail Birds dealt the San Antonio Storm Troopers a 10-1 loss at Cobras Ballpark. Phil Mouland was the star on offense. He was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs. Newark now sits at 50-51, while San Antonio falls to 40-57.
The Jail Birds had to work out of trouble in the top of the sixth. The score was 7-1, Newark, with two out. San Antonio, with the bases loaded, was mounting a threat. Sumiteru Nakagawa dug in at the plate, but on a 1-1 cutter, he grounded out.
