|
Pacifica starter Owen Kay pitched effectively against the Topeka Predators at McCormick Field. The right-hander led his team to a 5-3 win. Kay, now 8-3, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 3 earned runs. Pacifica is now 61-37, 7˝ games up in the Cory Lidle League Gene Mauch Division.
The Shamrocks beat the Predators in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out double Ernie Horswill produced in the bottom of the third. Batting against Topeka pitcher Tom Cluff, Horswill gave his team a 2-1 lead when he hit a 2-run double.
"Feels good to get the job done," Horswill said after the game.
