|
Long Island catcher Dave Thorpe had a good game, even if his team did not. The Ducks dropped a 8-3 decision to Youngstown at Long Island Stadium. Thorpe went 3 for 4 with a home run and a triple, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Dominic Smith was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Sachi Kakuta nailed down his 2nd save.
Youngstown left fielder Rick McKinney contributed to the cause with a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth. For the game, McKinney was 1 for 4 with a double.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," McKinney said. "We did a good job of that today."
The Tune-Ups sit in second place in the Cory Lidle League Lou Piniella League with a record of 56-42.
