Wolverines Lose Again, 9-6, to Monarchs
|
Benefiting from Orrin Martell's productive game, the Marysville Monarchs downed the Wichita Wolverines, 9-6. Martell went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Monarchs. Picking up the save was Joel Scoley, his 6th. This loss makes it 6 in a row for Wichita.
With one out in the top of the fourth, Joe Hayes hit a go-ahead bases-clearing double. It was his 3rd double of the season and with it the Monarchs took a 3-1 lead.
"Like I've always said, I'm the straw that stirs the drink," Hayes said (again).
