Spartans Spoil Great Performance by Fernández
|
Silicon Valley right fielder Francisco Fernández was sensational. He was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 4, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Sandy Springs beat the Hackers, 11-9. Fernández was named the player of the game despite the loss. The win was Shan Huo's in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Ryozo Kuramoto took the loss for Silicon Valley. Jorge Rodríguez locked down his 4th save.
Sandy Springs took a 9-8 lead on Chuck McNeil's 102nd hit of the season. The 2-run single, which McNeil hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Silicon Valley pitcher Ryozo Kuramoto shaking his head.
"I'm proud to be a part of what we've got going on here," McNeil told the Sandy Springs News. "It's a great group and we're happy with the win."
The Spartans are now 45-51, while the Hackers fall to 38-58.
