Despite a fine performance by left fielder Curtis Downing, the Long Island Ducks suffered a 9-3 loss to the Rock River Rats. Downing went 3 for 4 with a home run and a triple, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Micah Davis closed it out for his 6th save. Rock River has an impressive 64-29 record.

Canada-born Nelson Middleton came through in the clutch. In the top of the second, with the bases loaded and the Rats trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run single to left to put Rock River on top.

"We maximized our offense today," said Rock River skipper Hervé Barthélémy. "That makes everyone's life easier."
