Rats Need Extra Frames to Get Past Ninjas
Rock River withstood an impressive performance by New York left fielder Yasujiro Okawa to defeat the Ninjas, 9-6, at Confucius Field. Okawa went 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. Rock River reliever Kevin Crosby picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Juan López shouldered the loss. Ramelan Kathirithamby closed the door for Rock River, picking up his 1st save of the year.

Carlos Cordero's at-bat in the top of the 11th was significant for the Rats. Coming to the plate with the bases loaded and Rock River leading 7-6, the designated hitter hit a 2-run single.

"Big win," said Cordero.

The Rats, at 63-29, have a comfortable 14-game lead in their division.
