Buzzard's Bay catcher Juan Cruz had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 8-4, to Marysville at Mitts Fieldhouse. Cruz went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Joel Scoley was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save. The Beetlecats, at 41-49, have lost 5 in a row.
The Monarchs beat the Beetlecats with some clutch hitting. The single by Felipe Trinidad in the bottom of the fourth is a good example. With two down, Trinidad gave his team the lead, 4-3, when he came through with the big hit.
"Everyone's trying too hard," said losing manager Keith Irwin. "If we learn to relax, we'll be fine."
