Cornhuskers Hang 4-2 Loss on Ducks
|
The DeKalb Cornhuskers defeated the Long Island Ducks, 4-2, at Long Island Stadium. DeKalb left fielder Pete Bauer was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. DeKalb reliever Freddy Aguilar picked up the win to move to 1-0. Parker Davis suffered the loss. DeKalb occupies second place in the Bob Moose League Bruce Bochy Division at 49-43.
Bauer contributed a productive at-bat in the top of the fourth. With the bases loaded, he hit a 2-run single. It was one at-bat among others that helped DeKalb get the win.
After the game, DeKalb manager Eduardo Varerla applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
