Victory Pushes Tune-Ups Record to 50-41
|
The Youngstown Tune-Ups topped the Jacksonville Hellcats, 8-4, in Cory Lidle League action at Joey Naples Memorial Colloseum. The player of the game was Youngstown pitcher and St. Albans, England native Jay Coxford. Coxford, now 4-8, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run. Youngstown is now 50-41. Jacksonville is 36-54.
The Tune-Ups got a big at-bat from first baseman Edwin Nunez. For the game, Nunez was 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 16th double of the season gave Youngstown a 3-1 lead.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Youngstown manager Jacob Gaines.
