Van Perry pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats, despite Perry's fine outing, dropped a 2-1 decision to the Marysville Monarchs at Mitts Fieldhouse. Luis Rodríguez, credited with the win, is now 6-6. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 5.1 innings. Joel Scoley notched his 2nd save in 4 chances.
The Monarchs got a big at-bat from catcher Ramón Medina. For the game, Medina was 1 for 3 with a home run. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Marysville a 2-1 lead.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Medina said.
Marysville, at 48-45, occupies third place in the Cory Lidle League Gene Mauch Division.
