Monarchs Fall Short, 4-3, at Phoenix
|
Phoenix beat Marysville at UFO Field, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to right fielder Ramón Costa, who earned player of the game honors. Cecilio Friuli earned his 16th save in 19 tries. The Lights, at 46-47, sit in 4th place in the Cory Lidle League Gene Mauch Division.
Costa turned the game around in the bottom of the seventh. Facing Ryan Le Carré, the Phoenix right fielder rapped a 2-run home run. Suddenly, the 3-2 Phoenix deficit turned into a 4-3 lead.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Marysville manager Jorge Magana said following the tough loss.
