Jacksonville Hellcats starter Russell Numbers was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Silicon Valley Hackers, 3-2. With the win over Silicon Valley, the Hellcats improved to 35-53.
The Hellcats got a clutch hit from Steven Wrottesley with no one out in the bottom of the eighth inning. Wrottesley jumped on a first pitch slider from Ryozo Kuramoto and hit a single, staking his club to a 2-1 lead.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Hellcats manager Pete Dellow. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
