McFarland Leads Charge, Rock River Blasts Cornhuskers
|
The first-place Rock River Rats picked up another win at The Rat Hole.
The Rock River Rats buried the DeKalb Cornhuskers, 13-1, under a barrage of hits. Scott McFarland led the onslaught, going 3-for-3 for Rock River. Douglas Pantall, the winner, improved to 6-4. He held DeKalb to 1 earned run on 6 hits over 6 innings, while racking up 10 strikeouts.
Also pitching in for Rock River was third baseman Nobuatsu Nakashima, who hammered a 3-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, Nakashima went 1-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"They took us to the woodshed," said DeKalb manager Eduardo Varerla.
The Rats improved to a lofty 61-26.
